You’ll find all this and more at a Catholic school.
Students and staff from Catholic schools across the Diocese of Wollongong recently gathered at St Michael's Catholic Primary School in Thirroul to launch World Mission Month.
This annual event, celebrated throughout October, focuses on raising awareness and support for the Church's mission work around the globe.
The launch event, led by Bishop Brian Mascord, inspired attendees to consider how they can contribute to Catholic Mission initiatives, both during October and beyond. The Diocese of Wollongong has a long and proud history of supporting World Mission Month, with schools actively participating in fundraising activities and educational programs to foster a spirit of global solidarity among students.
World Mission Month provides an opportunity for students to learn about the challenges faced by communities in developing countries and to understand the importance of sharing their faith and resources with those in need. Through prayer, education, and fundraising, students across the diocese are encouraged to become active participants in the Church's mission to spread the Gospel and build a more just and compassionate world.
The face of mercy
In a Catholic school, faith is not theoretical. From the earliest years, students develop their leadership skills and work alongside others while making a positive difference for people and the planet.
